Abstract

This study aims to determine how social capital benefits affiliates, the strategies used, and the challenges affiliates face in utilizing TikTok affiliates as a source of income. With social capital, affiliates benefit from trust, networks and norms. This study used a qualitative approach, collecting data through interviews, observations and documentation with affiliates actively using TikTok affiliates. The results indicate the importance of social capital in utilizing affiliates. The trust an affiliate builds with their audience contributes to higher conversion rates. Affiliates with extensive social networks can influence success, as well as the norms affiliates must follow when utilizing affiliates. Furthermore, consistency in content creation and an understanding of the TikTok algorithm also influence affiliate effectiveness. Despite challenges such as intense competition and algorithm changes, implementing social capital can help affiliates utilize TikTok affiliates effectively.
